Round 7 of La Liga brought just 17 goals in its 10 matches, the lowest this season, with no more than two strikes in any game except Friday's 2-2 draw between Getafe and Malaga.
Barcelona secured a seventh win of the season by beating Almeria 2-0, while Atletico overcame Real Madrid in the capital's derby clash to maintain their own perfect record. There were also victories for Valencia, Levante, Elche, Getafe, Betis and Granada.
Here, Goal looks at the oustanding performers from La Liga's latest matches.
In goal, Guillermo Sara stopped Villarreal's fine form with an impressive shut-out in the 1-0 win for Betis at the Benito Villamarin.
At the back, Adriano was part of a Barcelona side which kept a clean sheet and also netted the second for the Catalans in Almeria. Filipe Luis was solid for Atletico in their derby win and participated in attack as well, helping to create the goal for Diego Costa. Finally, Roberto Lago was excellent in Getafe's 2-0 win over Espanyol.
In midfield, Koke was magnificent for Atletico and extremely unlucky not to score as his stunning shot rebounded off the crossbar late in the game. Javi Marquez, meanwhile, gave Elche their first win of the season with the sole strike against Celta Vigo and helped the promoted side forget about the controversial defeat at home to Madrid days earlier. Diego Buonanotte helped Granada to an impressive win over Athletic Bilbao on Monday night, while Antoine Griezmann was the standout performer for Real Sociedad and saved a point for the Basque outfit at home to Sevilla.
Up front, Diego Costa continued his fantastic form with the winner in the derby at the Bernabeu. Adrian Colunga also shone with both goals for Getafe and Youssef El Arabi hit a double for Granada in the 2-0 win at home to Athletic.
