Thibaut Courtois has warned that Atletico Madrid will be gunning for victory in the Spanish Super Cup first leg against Barcelona.
The Copa del Rey holders take on Gerardo Martino's men in the first of the two games at Vicente Calderon on Wednesday and Courtois - who is in line to make his 100th appearance for the Rojiblancos - is desperate to secure his first ever win over the Liga champions.
“I would like to win against Barcelona as it is something I have not yet done,” he told a press conference prior to the match.
“For a two-legged game we know it is going to be difficult. In other countries, or even with the European Super Cup, the trophy is determined with just one game. But here there are two, which makes things more complicated.
“But we will go for Barcelona and for the title.”
The two sides meet in the return leg at Camp Nou next week.
