The Barcelona midfielder has voiced his surprise at the Spain skipper's shift in status at the Santiago Bernabeu, where he has lost his place in the first team to Diego Lopez

Andres Iniesta has revealed he finds it hard to understand the situation of his Spain team-mate Iker Casillas at Real Madrid.

The experienced goalkeeper lost his spot in the starting XI to Diego Lopez after suffering a hand injury in January, and coach Jose Mourinho claimed at the end of last week that he we would have liked to have signed the former Sevilla shot-stopper sooner, much to the surprise of Iniesta.

"From the outside it is hard to understand [Casillas' situation], because of what Iker has always represented and what he represents," the Barcelona midfielder told Onda Cero.

"Not just because he is not playing but because of the things you hear. It's a difficult situation.

"Diego Lopez is playing very well and he is a great goalkeeper but I am not referring to the sporting situation, but to the things you hear about."

Casillas has not featured for Madrid since suffering a hand fracture in his side's 1-1 draw at Valencia in the Copa del Rey back in January.
