Soldado crucial in top-four charge, says Jonas

The club travel to face Atletico Madrid on Sunday in a match that could end up being key in deciding if los Che can qualify for the Champions League next season
Valencia attacker Jonas Goncalves has intimated that Roberto Soldado will be crucial in deciding whether the club finish in La Liga's top four this season.

The Spain international has been linked with a move away from los Che in the past couple of transfer windows, but his Brazilian striker partner is delighted to have him around at Mestalla.

"He's a great player and very important to us," he said of Soldado to reporters. "With him on the field we have more chances to win a game. He's very important to have the player in the final phase of the season.

Los Che face Atletico Madrid on Sunday and the Brazilian believes that the game will be key in the race for fourth spot which remains up for grabs for a number of Liga sides.

"There is one more spot and it is important [we take it]," Jonas added. "We cannot afford to lose games anymore because there is very little to go until the end of the season.

"It's a special match against a tough opponent with great potential. If we win we will add more points to achieve the goal and scoring away is important.

They have a lot of quality from last season and are very strong. Know we have to score and win if possible. No team is unbeatable."

Valencia sit fifth with 10 games to go, with Real Sociedad two points above them and Malaga, Betis, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano within four points behind them.
