The Portuguese winger has revealed his admiration for his manager whilst expressing his desire to carry on playing as long as injuries treat him kindly
The winger moved back to Spain in the summer of 2012 after a season in Turkey at Besiktas and says he has confidence in his manager, who managed Mexico for nine years and had spells with Osasuna, Atletico Madrid and Real Zaragoza.
"I have no doubts (about Aguirre)" said the 33-year old.
"He has already shown his great work before and is now of a higher level. He is the ideal coach to carry out a project."
And Simao admitted he is still hungry to keep playing at the top level with the Periquitos, adding: "I have a year left on my contract with Espanyol but also, if injuries respect me I want to keep playing. I am happy to participate and help."
The Portuguese international, who has 85 caps for his side, also commented on Saturday's game with Rayo Vallecano at de Vallecas Teresa Rivero.
"There is nothing further than the next game. If we do not think, something will go wrong. Now everyone tightens, there is no free lunch," he said.
