Navas eager for success to return to Sevilla
The Spain international says that playing in a number of finals in the mid-2000s is driving him on to secure this season's Copa del Rey
Sevilla winger Jesus Navas has admitted that previous success is driving him on as the club prepare for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid.Los Rojiblancos must overturn a 2-1 deficit to progress to the final of the competition, and Navas hopes winning some silverware will bring back the feelings he felt in the mid-2000s.
The club won six trophies, including two Uefa Cups in 2006 and 2007, and the Spain international explained that picking up trophies makes him want to compete in showpiece finals.
"The importance of tomorrow’s game is special. We want to play in the final and we know it will be very hard to achieve, but also a very beautiful thing," he told AS.
"We’ve been fortunate to have played a lot of games like that, but I am still bitten by the bug.
“Being so close to the final does not happen every day. I have the same feelings of those great nights at the club not so long ago."
The 27-year-old, who has recently been linked with a move to Manchester City, will be a key figure in Wednesday's match, which kicks-off at 22:00 CET.
