Simeone wary of Atletico Madrid fatigue ahead of Betis clash
The Argentine coach is concerned about his squad's fitness levels for their upcoming Liga game following their midweek victory against Sevilla
Diego Simeone has voiced his concern that his side might be fatigued going into their game against Betis following their hard-fought Copa del Rey semi-final victory over Sevilla on Thursday.Atletico's squad comprises of players such as Radamel Falcao, Arda Turan, Emre and Juanfran, but the Argentine coach believes that they could suffer at the hands of La Liga's fifth-placed side due to fitness levels.
"I'm sure they will try to take advantage of the fact that we played in the week. We just have to work hard, as we always do, and try to get a result,” stated the Rojiblancos coach.
The 42-year-old was also wary of the sides' familiarity with each other due to their frequent meetings.
He added: "This is the fourth time we have played them this season. I don't think that will affect what happens, but we both know each other very well."
Simeone's Atletico Madrid side are currently second in La Liga, but the nine-point gap between them and Tito Vilanova's Barcelona in the top spot could prove to be insurmountable.
