Vilanova: My situation will help keep Barcelona grounded
By Stefan Coerts

The Blaugrana trainer feels his ill health has helped the team put things in perspective, and he was very pleased with the win over Espanyol

The 44-year-old is currently undergoing chemotherapy after undergoing surgery in December 2012, and has pointed out that his problems have helped the team realise that they are just like anybody else.
"I feel very supported and protected by the club. I want to thank my staff and the players," Vilanova said at a press conference.
"This group have had too many close calls and I think it will help us. This situation keeps our feet on the ground because we are no different from anyone else."
The Barcelona coach then went on to discuss Sunday's 4-0 win over Espanyol, and singled out Pedro as his side's star performer.
"We started off really well. It’s not easy to start like this after a break, but we showed that we’re on form," he continued.
"Pedro can score. I always say that if he gets time on the pitch he’ll end up scoring because he’s good with both feet. I think it’s good for him that he scored and it’s good for the team."
Barcelona have moved 11 points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid following this weekend's La Liga results.
