It is hard to say if La Liga title is decided, says Aragones
The Euro 2008-winning boss is of the opinion that it is too soon to say if Barcelona will be Spanish champions, and insisted that everything is possible in football
Former Spain coach Luis Aragones believes that the race for La Liga is not over, but admitted it will be hard for any team to challenge Barcelona if they maintain their form. The Blaugrana have a nine-point advantage over second-placed Atletico Madrid and are 13 points ahead of Real Madrid, who occupy third position, but the 74-year-old is adamant that the title is handed out in the spring, not in December.
"It's very hard to say that the Liga has already been decided. You can't say that because anything can happen in football," Aragones said in an interview with La Xarxa.
"But it's very difficult to take it away if Barcelona keep displaying the form they have up until now."
Aragones took time to comment on Atletico Madrid's loss against the Catalans at the weekend, and rued Los Colchoneros' inability to contain Lionel Messi.
"Messi scores goals," he continued. "He was not spectacular, especially in the first half, when Atletico had him under wraps in the centre of the pitch by crowding him.
"As soon as Atleti stopped pressing, Messi appeared as he always does. He scores goals, he can pass; he has everything in his arsenal. Messi has a special vision for football and special technique."
