The goalkeeper feels the prolific forward is in a league of his own, and says he is pleased with the club's intention to offer him a contract extension
The Argentina international netted twice at the weekend to break Gerd Muller's long-standing goalscoring record of 85 goals in a single calendar year for club and country, and Pinto feels it's impossible to define the 25-year-old.
"Leo is a very calm person. What he’s done is beyond the reach of a lot of footballers. He has so many virtues that it’s hard to define him," the goalkeeper was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"His new record makes us all very happy and we’re very pleased with what he brings to the team. It’s impossible to define Messi with just one word."
Pinto then went on to discuss his contract situation, saying he was pleased that the Nou Camp outfit intend to offer him a new deal.
"The fact that Barcelona declared their intention to renew my contract fills me with pride. It means that I’m still valued, that I earned this with my hard work.
"My agent and the club will discuss the details. I just have to focus on training and playing at the highest level."
Pinto joined Barcelona from Celta de Vigo in January 2008.
