'I have tried to get Messi arrested' - Cordoba president Gonzalez
Los Califas' chief is aware that his side are the huge underdogs against the Blaugrana in the Copa del Rey, but remains hopeful of securing a good result on Wednesday
Cordoba president Carlos Gonzalez has joked that he has tried to get Lionel Messi star arrested ahead of his side's Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona on Wednesday.The Argentine has been in fine form this season, helping the Blaugrana to an unbeaten start to their Liga campaign, scoring 30 goals in all competitions.
"I’ve tried to talk to the civil guard to get [Messi] arrested," he quipped to reporters.
He went on to acknowledge his side face a though task against Barca, but insisted that they will give their all for a good result on home soil.
"We will compete by all means to get a good result to take into the second leg.
"In sport anything can happen, but it will be very complicated, because even their second string would be good enough to finish runners up in La Liga."
Barca and Cordoba kick off at 20:00CET on Wednesday.
