Falcao: It is too early to be talking about winning La Liga
The Colombian forward insists, despite the good start his side have made, they still have a long way ahead of them before they can even begin to contemplate being title contenders
Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has dismissed talks of his club challenging for silverware this season at this stage of the campaign. The Colombian has been repeatedly linked with moves away from Atleti in the past weeks, but the attacker's mind is firmly focused on continuing the club's strong start to the season.
"Our campaign has been fantastic so far, we're playing a very attractive brand of football and the whole team is hoping the rest of the season will be great too," the 26-year-old told l'equipe.fr.
"We're doing well just now, but we need to make sure we don't let ourselves slip. It's still early for title talk, but I'm convinced that we'll be up at the top. Our priority is still a Champions League place."
He then explained that scoring goals is not important for him personally, but rewarding if it helps his team in securing a successful campaign.
He added: "I'm happy with the start I have made, especially because my goals have allowed me to help my team win. I feel like I've been in great form since the season kicked off, and I hope this streak lasts for as long as possible.
"I'm not obsessed with scoring a set number of goals, I just want my team to win as many games as possible."
Atletico currently sit second in La Liga and are preparing for their trip to Granada on Sunday.
