The midfielder has insisted that Real Madrid's good results only motivate the Blaugrana to do better, and is delighted to play alongside Lionel Messi

Cesc Fabregas has surprisingly revealed that Barcelona are keen to see Real Madrid do well, because he feels their rivals' success only spurs them on to do even better.

The Catalans were dethroned as Spanish champions last season after dominating La Liga in the years before, but Fabregas believes Madrid's re-emergence only serves to motivate Barca.

"We always want Madrid to win, because it forces us to play even better. For that reason, we have to win every game if we want to win the league," Fabregas told Onda Cero.

The former Arsenal skipper then went on to discuss his relationship with Lionel Messi and stated that he feels honoured to play alongside the Argentine at the Primera Division leaders.

"Leo is very easy to link up with, to play one-twos with," he said. "It's an honour for me and many others to play alongside him."

Fabregas has netted five goals in 16 official appearances for Barcelona so far this term.
