Susaeta delighted with Spain call-up
By Gregorio Weston
Nov 13, 2012 2:35:00 PM
The 24-year-old winger shared his sentiments on being promoted to La Roja ahead of their clash with the Central American side this week
Athletic Bilbao's Markel Susaeta has revealed he was delighted about being called up for international duty for Spain's friendly against Panama on Wednesday. This is the young forward's first opportunity to play for his country and admitted it was a privilege to be apart of the national set-up while they continue to stamp their authority on the world game.
"Truly, it's an honour to share a workout, let alone a game, so I'm very happy," said Susaeta in an interview with Marca.
"And what a better time than when [Spain] is world and European champions.
Susaeta helped Athletic Bilbao overcome Manchester United before eventually finishing runners-up to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final last season and has been capped at Under-21 level.
He added: "It is a dream for any Spanish player to be selected."
Looking ahead to Panama, he said: "The match will be very nice, especially with the intensity that both teams put on the field."
La Furia Roja have not lost a match yet in 2012, with 12 wins, and three draws.
