Barcelona's Villa: I am in good shape

The Blaugrana striker revealed that he feels great physically and expressed his delight with his opening goal in Saturday's victory over Rayo Vallecano

Barcelona attacker David Villa believes he is finally on his way to regaining full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Spanish striker suffered a broken leg during the Club World Cup in December last year, which ruled him out of Euro 2012, and has only started to feature recently for the Catalans.

Villa scored the opener - his fourth this season - as Barca thrashed Rayo Vallecano 5-0 on Saturday, and the 30-year-old revealed he was delighted at netting a goal in his first start for Tito Vilanova's side this term.

"I'm in great shape, and I am very happy to return to playing football again. I am delighted at helping my team win by getting a goal," the striker told AS.

"It so happens that I have never played at this stadium [Rayo's]. I am happy to debut here, score and win and that everything turned out fine."

The striker then turned his attention to Barca's Copa del Rey clash with Alaves on Tuesday.

"The Copa games are tough and we have to deal with them. We have to get a good result in the first leg. Alaves is a tough team, their morale will be sky-high and will want to upset Barca.

"It's a difficult tie, but we know we can progress. And then we'll think about the league."
