Real Madrid defender Marcelo will travel to Amsterdam to undergo an operation on his broken foot as he looks to cut his recovery time to the minimum possible.
The Brazil international fractured his fifth metatarsal in training and will reportedly be out for three months with the injury.
Los Blancos' coach Jose Mourinho visited the left-back in hospital and the club's medical staff have determined that the 24-year-old will travel to Netherlands on Friday to visit Dr. Niek Van Dijk, who has also operated on Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie in the past.
The club will also be the hosting Fifa Club Protection Programme, which will provide clubs with compensation when their players are injured whilst on international duty.
The programme will compensate sides up to a maximum of €20,548 a day, meaning that Mourinho's team could claim up to €1.8million for the full-back's current set-back.
