Belarus v Spain match set for television blackout
Fans of the World and European champions may not be able to watch their side in action on Friday after Spanish broadcasters failed to agree a deal over TV rights
Spain's World Cup 2014 qualifier against Belarus is at risk of not being shown on television outside of the eastern European nation following a row over broadcasting fees.As things stand no Spanish television companies are planning to show the Group I encounter from Minsk after failing to agree a deal with the host broadcasters.
They have approximately 48 hours to try and broker a deal or the match will not be shown around the country.
German company Sportfive own the rights to the game and are holding out for a fee of €1.5million after originally requesting €3m, but Spain's delicate economic situation has left broadcasters concerned that they cannot afford to show the clash.
Spanish newspaper AS have spoken to a number of potential buyers in the country and the belief is that at the current price it would not be profitable to show the match.
This is not the first time this season that there have been issues regarding television rights in Spain, after a similar dispute unfolded before La Roja's win over Georgia in September, though a deal was eventually agreed.
