| Two goals from Imanol Agirretxe saw Real Sociedad come from a goal behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo at Anoeta. The hosts were very unlucky not to be ahead at the break, as Agirretxe, Ion Ansotegi, and Antoine Griezmann all hit the woodwork in the first period. Despite Sociedad's domination, Celta took the lead four minutes after half-time when Iago Aspas unselfishly set-up Enrique De Lucas to fire home his side's first goal in the Spanish top flight for five seasons. However, the lead was short-lived as Agirretxe drilled home the equaliser five minutes later after receiving a neat pass from Griezmann inside the area. The Spaniard completed the fightback seven minutes later when he got on the end of a Carlos Vela pass to bundle the ball home. |

| The match at the Benito Villamarin got off to a flying start on Saturday with two goals scored in the opening four minutes as Rayo defeated Real Betis 2-1 in La Liga. The visitors quickly registered themselves on the scoresheet and went ahead in just the second minute when Leo Baptistao raced down the left and lashed a cross into the centre. It proved too hot to handle for Betis goalkeeper Fabricio and Piti was there to tap home. However, Jorge Molina responded immediately for the hosts with a deflected shot over Ruben in the Rayo goal. It took almost an hour, but Rayo eventually found the net again in the 6nd minute when substitute Lass maruaded down the left and reversed a pass into the centre for Leo to smash a shot past Fabricio, earning the win. |

| A goal in the last minute from Helder Postiga sealed three points for Zaragoza in a thrilling 2-1 win over Espanyol at the Cornella on Saturday. The hosts actually took the lead in the match two minutes before the end of the first period when Mubarak Wakaso laid the ball off for Alvaro Vazquez, and the 21-year old strode forward and drilled the ball home from 20 yards. It did not take Zaragoza long to get back in the game, however, and were back on level terms in the 51st minute after Juan Albin handled in the area and earned his second yellow card of the game and a subsequent sending off. Apono stepped up to coolly dispatch the penalty. The points looked destined to be split, but Postiga popped up in the 90th minute to score from six yards and secure the win for the visitors. |

| An inspired substitution from Manuel Pellegrini rescued a point for Malaga in a 1-1 draw with Mallorca at La Rosaleda on Saturday evening. Tomer Hemed had put the away side in front in the 68th minute, but substitute Juanmi scored with one of his first touches of the ball 10 minutes later to ensure the honours were even. The islanders took the lead when Emiliano Nsue went on a maruading run down the right flank before standing a cross into the box for Hemed, who emphatically headed into the top corner. Juanmi was introduced to the action in place of Sebastian Fernandez with around 13 minutes to play, and slotted home from 12 yards to ensure an unbeaten start to the league season for Malaga. |

| Alvaro Negredo scored for the second game running as Sevilla came back from a goal behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Granada at Los Carmenes, despite being down to 10 men for an hour of the match. It was a relatively even affair for the opening half-hour but the match exploded into life in the 34th minute when Diego Lopez was sent off and a penalty was awarded to Granada when the Sevilla keeper fouled Antonio Floro Flores inside the area. The resulting penalty by Guillherme Siqueira was dramatically saved by substitute Andres Palop, but Mikel Rico reacted quickest to drill in the rebound. Sevilla eventually managed to find the equaliser a minute before half-time when Piotr Trochowski's excellent cross found Negredo, who needed two attempts at goal but eventually found the net with a tap in to even the score. |

| Valencia are still searching for their first La Liga win of the new campaign after allowing Deportivo to come back from a two-goal deficit to earn a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Mestalla on Sunday. Things were going well for the hosts as Roberto Soldado had netted twice in the opening 30 minutes of the game, coolly taking the ball around Daniel Aranzubia to slot home and then scoring with a spectacular acrobatic effort. However, Abel Aguilar squeezed the ball over the line from a corner in the 38th minute to claw a goal back for Deportivo. Sofiane Feghouli restored the two-goal advantage three minutes later with a composed finish into the bottom corner after latching on to a Dani Parejo through ball. Deportivo rallied after the break though and cut the deficit to one goal on the hour mark when Aguilar passed home his second of the night. The comeback was complete 15 minutes from time when Ricardo Costa brought down Riki inside the area, earning a red card in the process. Pizzi sent Diego Alves the wrong way to score the penalty and complete a thrilling comeback for the visitors. |

| Two penalties from Victor Perez just 10 minutes apart earned Valladolid their first home win back in the Spanish Primera Division against Levante on Monday evening. The Nuevo Jose Zorrilla was expectant as they got see their players back in the top flight for the first time since winning promotion in the summer, and they did not disappoint. Perez was the man of the night, and dispatched his first penalty in the 38th minute after David Navarro handled inside the area and was given second yellow card by referee Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva. Valladollid were handed an opportunity to extend their lead two minutes after the break when Papakouli Diop brought down Omar inside the box. Perez once again stepped up to expertly convert the penalty, giving the home side their second win of the season. |

| A fantastic hat-trick from Radamel Falcao gave Atletico Madrid the perfect preparation for their Uefa Super Cup final with Chelsea on Friday, as the capital club came out emphatic 4-0 winners over Athletic Bilbao at the Vicente Calderon. The Colombian got the ball rolling for the hosts with a superb individual effort in the 20th minute in which he received the ball from a throw-in and evaded a couple of challenges before delightfully dinking the ball over Gorka Iraizoz. The striker then doubled his tally two minutes before the end of the first period when he drifted in at the back post to brilliantly get a foot on Diego Godin's pinpoint cross. The third goal of the evening came when Carlos Gurpegi was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball in the area, allowing Falcao to confidently score the penalty and earn the match ball with a hat-trick. The rout was completed in the 84th minute when Tiago fired home a stunner from 20 yards, compounding an awful night for Marcelo Bielsa's men. |
