Pepe ruled out of Getafe clash

The Portuguese defender sustained a concussion after a collision with Iker Casillas in Real Madrid's season opener with Valencia

Real Madrid defender Pepe has been forced out of his side's clash with Getafe on Sunday because of the concussion he sustained during Los Blancos' season opener against Valencia on August 19.

The Portugual star was involved in a clash of heads with club captain Iker Casillas as Mauricio Pellegrino's side took a corner, and left the pitch soon after.

He was subsequently made to miss Thursday's 3-2 Clasico defeat to Barcelona through concussion, but has since begun full training and was widely expected to be fit in time for the Madrid derby.

Raul Albiol started in his stead against the Catalans, and the Spain international, along with Raphael Varane, will compete for a place in Jose Mourinho's starting line-up at the Alfonso Perez.

Meanwhile, there is no place in the squad for duo Ricardo Carvalho or Kaka, who are widely expected to leave the Bernabeu before the transfer window's end on Friday.

Getafe and Real Madrid kick off at 21:00CET on Sunday.
