Earlier this week the former Chelsea manager confessed, "I should obviously not have done what I did", during a press conference in the United States.
However, according to the former Sevilla player, Mourinho's repentance has come a little too late.
"It nice to see that he has changed his attitude, but I would not have waited so long if I were him. Mourinho has been too late (with his apology)," Alves told a press conference in Goteburg following his team's penalty shoot-out win over Manchester United.
Recent matches between Alves' Barcelona and Real Madrid have seen an intense rivalry become even more so, with numerous fights and disputes taking place.
However, the 29-year-old hopes that future matches will see less clashes between the two sets of players and staff, though he did admit that sometimes such things are hard to control.
"We always hope that things will remain calm in matches, with the football being the focus. But there are things that we cannot control," he concluded.
The two Spanish giants will meet again in this year's Supercopa on August 23, with the first leg taking place at Camp Nou.
