thumbnail Hello,

The Catalan giants' goalkeeper has assured that the players will work to their maximum for the new coach, although he does not expect much to change at the club

Victor Valdes believes that Barcelona's commitment to Tito Vilanova as their new coach will help the club continue to perform at the top level.

Vilanova was promoted from assistant coach after the departure of Pep Guardiola from Camp Nou at the end of last season, and the players have since been quick to lend their support to the relatively unproven trainer.

When asked if Barcelona could continue on their current path, Valdes suggested to Efe: "There is a very good chance, I think, with the commitment to Vilanova as our coach, and we will do our utmost so that Barcelona remain at a high level.

"Each [coach] has his way of working, his own style, although it is true that I do not expect many changes to the things we have been doing in the last few seasons.

"All I want is that Barcelona are champions by the end and that is what we work for every day."

Vilanova's first competitive game at the helm will come when the Blaugrana host Real Sociedad on the opening day of the Liga season on August 18, followed by the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa against Real Madrid on August 23.
