Diego Simeone is ready to welcome midfielder Raul Garcia back into the fold at Atletico Madrid next season, as he looks to address his side's over-reliance on striker Radamel Falcao.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a fine season on loan at Osasuna last term, scoring 11 goals in 33 appearances, and he has now caught the eye of Argentine coach in pre-season, according to AS.
Garcia scored the winner in Osasuna's 3-2 win over Barcelona in February and his attacking tendencies have impressed his coach, who only saw Falcao - with 24 goals - reach double figures for the Europa League winners last season.
As a result, Simeone is now planning on playing Garcia as a deep-lying forward behind Falcao, particularly away from home if reports on the Iberian peninsula are to be believed.
Garcia's re-emergence at the Vicente Calderon next season is likely to mean others are heading for the exit, however.
Los Rojiblancos have already sold centre-back Alvaro Dominguez to German side Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee in the region of €8million.
However, it is believed that Simeone needs to bring in further revenue to balance the books and it is rumoured that Garcia's form could force the coach to cash in on 22-year-old Argentine winger Eduardo Salvio.
Garcia will hope to add to his burgeoning reputation when Simeone's side take on Peruvian outfit llianza Lima Peru in a pre-season friendly this Saturday.
