Baptista out for four months after surgery as injury woes mount

The former Real Madrid player looks set to spend another torrid spell on the sidelines as he endures more time out after his latest operation to an injury sustained last October

Malaga striker Julio Baptista faces four months on the sidelines after undergoing degenerative fibrosis to repair a partial tear in his right Achilles tendon.

The 30-year-old missed the majority of last season because of the injury and underwent the procedure at a Barcelona hospital.

The damage was sustained during Malaga's 3-2 win over Getafe in October 2011, and will definitely see the Brazil international miss out on next season's Champions League qualifiers and a large part of the season start following his latest operation.

'The Beast' signed for the Manuel Pellegrini's ambitious La Liga side from Roma for €2.5 million, but only managed one goal in four appearances prior to his initial injury.
