Soldado hoping to end career at Valencia after signing new five-year contract

The Spain international has enjoyed two excellent seasons at Mestalla and insists he did not entertain offers from other clubs, certain that he wanted to remain at the club

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has spoken of his delight at signing a new five-year contract at Mestalla and hopes to end his career at the club.

The 27-year-old was signed from Getafe in the summer of 2010 for a reported €10 million fee after an impressive two years in the Spanish capital, and has continued that form since the move.

Soldado amassed 27 goals in all competitions last season, and has now moved to commit his future to Los Che, and says that he would like to see out the rest of his career with the club.

“This is a dream that continues to grow," he told to reporters at an event to celebrate his new deal. "I want to thank my teammates, the club and the fans. I want to retire at Valencia CF.

“It has been an enormous privilege to play here. I have to earn this contract extension every day from here on in. I didn't listen to any other clubs and I didn't want to either, because I wanted to stay here.

"This team deserves to play in finals and win them. The players, the club and the fans deserve it and we are going to fight for trophies."

Valencia president Manuel Llorente echoed Soldado's sentiments, hoping the striker plays the rest of his career at Mestalla, and also insisted a contract renewal was always in the pipeline.

“[This] was an aim that we had set out clearly,” noted Llorente. “Soldado should see out his career here, he is someone who we all like very much."
