The 50-year-old club official, who spent eight seasons at Camp Nou during his illustrious playing career, only had one year to run on his previous deal with the BlaugranaBarcelona have announced that sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has signed a one-year extension to his current contract with the club, thus tying the former Spain international to Camp Nou until 2014.
The legendary Blaugrana goalkeeper's previous deal with the Catalan giants was set to expire next summer but the 50-year-old has now committed himself to the club for another 12 months, with the option of a further two years.
The news comes as no surprise as Barca have been more than happy with Zubizarreta's work since succeeding Txiki Begiristain as sporting director in 2010. He initially rejoined the club on a one-year deal but promptly extended his contract until June 30, 2013.
Having now confirmed that Zubizarreta has signed on for at least another 24 months, Barca are imminently expected to reveal that new boss Tito Vilanova has agreed a two-year contract with the club.
