The French international defender has been released from the medical centre where he spend 40 days recovering from his liver transplant operation in AprilBarcelona's Eric Abidal has been discharged from hospital, and will continue his recuperation from the surgery he underwent earlier this year at home.
The 32-year-old had a liver transplant operation at the Hospital Barcaclinic on April 10 almost one year after he had a tumour removed.
Abidal has now been given the green light to return home, where he will continue his recovery in the company of his family.
"Given the characteristics of these recovery processes, Abidal will be submitted to regular medical checks at the hospital," a statement from Barca's medical team read.
The news comes as a huge psychological boost for the Blaugrana ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on May 25, which will be Pep Guardiola's last match at the helm of the club.
Abidal, who joined Barca from Olympique Lyonnais in 2007, made 38 appearances in all competitions in 2011-12.
