Javier Mascherano has made it clear that he is enjoying life at Barcelona and added that he is keen to stay at Camp Nou beyond the 2011-12 campaign.
The Argentina international has developed into an important first-team member at the Blaugrana since joining them from Liverpool in the summer of 2010, and he is eager to stay put.
"I have no intention to leave Barcelona. I am very happy with the way things are going here," Mascherano was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
The versatile Argentine then went on to stress that he does not think his contract should be upgraded, but added that he is ready to ink a new deal if the opportunity comes up.
"I don’t think I deserve a new contract. If I have the chance to continue or get a new deal in the future, that will be great. The club will decide."
The 27-year-old's current agreement runs until June 2014.
