Diego Simeone’s men beat fellow Spaniards Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the final in Bucharest on Wednesday, and the young Belgian was thrilled with his team's success.
Courtois has admitted that he never dreamed of lifting the Europa League title at the start of the season, but is over the moon with the achievement.
"I knew that Atletico were a great team, but I never thought I would end my first season as a champion," he told AS.
"I'm happy to have done this so young. In addition, yesterday I turned 20 and this is the best gift I've ever received.
"I am very happy for the players, the coaching staff and especially the fans," he confessed.
Courtois is on loan from Chelsea currently, but is keen to extend his time at the Vicente Calderon for another campaign.
"I want to play another year here, and then we'll see. I really want to stay here and it will be good for Chelsea for me to play another season at Atletico.
"I feel that my team-mates, coaches, everyone wants me to stay another season. This makes me proud. They are like a family," he concluded.
