Real Madrid break all-time Liga goals record with Sami Khedira's Clasico strike against Barcelona

Jose Mourinho's men reached 108 strikes for the season thanks to the German's effort at Camp Nou on Saturday, surpassing the previous mark set by John Toshack's outfit in 1989-90
Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid have become the all-time top goalscorers in a single La Liga season, thanks to Sami Khedira's strike against Barcelona ¡n the Camp Nou Clasico on Saturday night.

The current side equalled the record mark of 107 goals set by John Toshack's title-winning team in 1989-90 in last weekend's 3-1 win over Sporting Gijon at the Santiago Bernabeu, but were unable to find the fourth as they piled forward in the closing minutes of that match.

That meant they came into tonight's Clasico match needing just a goal to surpass the class of '90, and they duly did so as Khedira netted from close range after 17 minutes.

Victor Valdes failed to hold on to Pepe's header from a corner and Khedira beat Carles Puyol to the rebound to poke home and give the visitors the lead on Saturday.

Madrid came into the Clasico four points ahead of Barca in La Liga.
