The Dutchman suffered a serious knee injury in training last September but is fully fit once more and could be included in the squad for this weekend's clash with Levante
The Netherlands international has been out of action since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a training session on September 22.
However, Afellay began training with his team-mates again in March and on Wednesday was given the all-clear by Barca's medical team to return to first-team action.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wing, could be included in Pep Guardiola's squad for Saturday's clash with Levante.
Afellay, who is under contract until 2015, arrived at Camp Nou from PSV in January of last year and has made 17 Primera Division appearances for the Blaugrana.
