The former Arsenal star has stated that Los Blancos are still the team to beat, and admitted that the Blaugrana struggled to claim the three points against ZaragozaBarcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has insisted that Real Madrid remain favourites to win the La Liga title.
The Catalans recorded a 4-1 away win over Zaragoza on Saturday to narrow the gap to Madrid to three points, with Los Blancos having a game in hand. Fabregas, however, feels that their arch-rivals are still the team to beat.
"We weren’t expecting to be three points behind Real Madrid at this point in the competition, but there’s a lot of Liga still left to be played. They’re still favourites to win it," Fabregas said to reporters.
"It was a difficult match [against Zaragoza]. The conditions weren’t optimal, but the team played with a lot of character - we deserved the victory. We had a lot of chances that we weren’t able to capitalise on.
"It was a very hard-fought match. It’s a shame to play on a pitch like this, on such a dry field where the ball is so painfully slow."
