youngster Raphael Varane
has earned heavy praise from Manchester United
defender Rio Ferdinand
with his strong performance against Real Sociedad on Saturday.
The 18-year-old centre-back featured alongside Sergio Ramos in the Blancos' 5-1 victory, replacing the suspended Pepe, and Ferdinand was impressed with Varane's display at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I'm liking the look of the young Real Madrid central defender, 18yrs old, looking nice + composed! #future," tweeted Ferdinand about the defensive prospect.
Varane joined Real Madrid from Lens in the summer of 2011, and has since impressed with a number of fine displays.
The defender had also attracted the interest of Manchester United last year, but eventually opted to turn the Premier League side down in favour of a move to Madrid.
