TEAM NEWS: Thiago in the Xavi role for Barcelona as Guardiola opts for 3-4-3 against Mallorca

There is no place for Xavi in the side as the midfielder is rested ahead of the Catalans' Champions League clash against AC Milan in midweek
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has left out Xavi for his side's La Liga clash at Mallorca on Saturday evening, with Thiago included in a four-man midfield and three at the back.

With Dani Alves suspended following his red card in the 5-3 win over Granada earlier this week, Guardiola has opted for a three-man back line formed by Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano.

Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets accompany Thiago in a midfield made up of four Spain internationals.

Xavi, meanwhile, is on the bench with the Milan match looming, while Alexis Sanchez and Pedro join Lionel Messi in attack.
