Luis Aragones: Vicente del Bosque was right to drop Fernando Torres
The 73-year-old agrees with the current trainer's decision to omit the misfiring Chelsea striker in favour of other options up front ahead of the friendly with Venezuela
Former Spain coach Luis Aragones agrees with Vicente del Bosque's decision to drop Fernando Torres from the national team.Torres has not found the back of the net since scoring two goals in Chelsea's Champions League group game with Genk back in October.
The striker's poor form has raised criticism from all corners and Del Bosque has finally dropped the striker after sticking by him in his previous selection.
"I understand that he has not been called, he is not going through a good time and must wait for another opportunity, Aragones told Marca.
"It is normal for a player who does not play and is not in good form to not go with the team."
A number of Torres' team-mates have lent their support to the misfiring striker in recent days and have expressed their belief that he will secure a spot in the squad for Euro 2012.
Spain will also be without Alvaro Negredo for Wednesday's friendly with Venezuela. The Sevilla striker had to withdraw from the squad due to a thigh injury, offering Roberto Soldado the chance to make an impact.
