Portuguese centre-back Pepe has been included in the Real Madrid squad for Wednesday's second leg of the Blancos' Copa del Rey quarter-final against arch-rivals Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Madrid were beaten 2-1 in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Pepe made the headlines for all the wrong reasons in that game when he stepped on Lionel Messi's hand when the Argentine lay on the ground.

Pepe stressed after the match that his action was an accident rather than a deliberate action, but the former Porto star has been heavily criticised since.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) opened an investigation into the incident and RFEF president Alfredo Florez indicated that the federation will rule on Pepe's stamp on Messi on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, this has not stopped head coach Jose Mourinho from including the defender in his roster for the away match versus Barcelona.

FULL SQUAD:

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adan, Jesus.
Defenders: Ramos, Marcelo, Varane, Albiol, Pepe, Coentrao, Arbeloa, Carvalho.
Midfielders: Lass, Xabi Alonso, Ozil, Callejon, Sahin, Granero, Kaka, Altintop.
Attackers: Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuain, Benzema.
