The Portuguese outfit insisted on Saturday that there was no agreement with Sevilla for the 24-year-old's transfer, but the striker has now signed a contract with the Spanish side after all.
The Andalucians were keen to add some more firepower to their squad following their relatively disappointing performances in the first half of the 2011-12 campaign - they currently sit ninth after 19 games - and head coach Marcelino has now got the striker he was after.
Diawara started his professional career in Senegal at Jeane d'Arc before joining Maritimo in the summer of 2007.
He has a limited fee release clause of €30 million in his new contract with Sevilla.
