Barcelona would be the best international team in the world, claims Argentina's Alejandro Sabella

The 56-year-old coach spoke of his admiration for the Champions League holders and took the time to praise his captain, Lionel Messi
Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella believes that Barcelona would still be dominant even if they were to play at international level rather than as a club side.

The Catalans won La Liga and the Champions League in 2010-11 and started the new season by adding the Spanish Supercopa and Uefa Super Cup to their trophy cabinet.

"If you let them wear the jersey of any national side, they would again be the best team out there," Sabella said at a press conference, according to Sport.

Barcelona have several Spain internationals in their squad, but the undisputed star at Camp Nou is Argentina ace Lionel Messi, and Sabella took time to praise his captain.

"There are different kinds of leaders. Lionel is our leader based on his footballing qualities. He never plays a bad game and all his colleagues have a lot of respect for him.

"He has matured a lot in the past few years and wearing the armband will only help him mature further."

Argentina are currently preparing for a home fixture against Chile in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
