Athletic Bilbao’s Igor Martinez out for six weeks
The Basque attacking midfielder has been sidelined for the next month and a half following an injury sustained against Malaga in a Liga game in midweek
Athletic Bilbao will be without the services of Igor Martinez for this weekend's clash against Villarreal as well as their Europa League game against Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday because of injury.
The midfielder fractured a shin bone during Athletic’s 1-0 away defeat to Malaga in the Primera Division on Wednesday. Martinez suffered the injury after 71 minutes and was immediately carried off the pitch.
The 22-year-old is now expected to miss all footballing action for up to six weeks and will join fellow midfielder Ander Herrera on the sidelines for the Basque giants.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Athletic began their European adventure wih a 2-1 defeat of Slovan Bratislava in Group F but have endured a poor start to the domestic campaign, collecting just a point from four league matches.
