The Argentine winger became an important part of the Santiago Bernabeu side in 2010-11, and has put his improvement down to the mentoring of his Portuguese coachReal Madrid attacker Angel di Maria has stated that Jose Mourinho has helped him to adjust his style of play and improve as a player.
The Argentina international had an impressive first season in the Spanish capital following a transfer from Benfica, and claims his coach has had a huge part to play in his form.
"Mourinho wants us to be aggressive with and without the ball, so I had to adjust my defence to do what he wants," the 23-year-old told Marca.
The former Rosario Central player worked well alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil in the Spanish outfit's attack in 2010-11, helping the capital city outfit to a Copa Del Rey triumph and a runners-up finish in the league.
"It's different from when I played for Benfica, and so my mentality has to be different. I knew if I wanted to play [at] Real Madrid I had to run and look for chances. Mourinho wants us to work on defence, so we have space to attack. I [will] try to keep improving," he concluded.
Di Maria will look to play a part in a victory against Real Zaragoza on Sunday in the first La Liga game of the new season.
