The assistant to Jose Mourinho urges his team to play like they did at the Santiago Bernabeu and confirms that there will be changes to the starting line-upReal Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka says that he is confident his side can see off Barcelona in the Spanish Supercopa second-leg on Wednesday.
Last season's Copa del Rey winners travel to Camp Nou with a slight disadvantage, having being held to a 2-2 draw in the first-leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
Madrid were on the front foot for much of the game and Karanka believes that if his players perform at the same level, then they will emerge victorious in this two-legged affair.
"If we play like we did the other day, the Supercopa trophy will come to Madrid," Karanka said at a press conference. "We had plenty of chances to win, but great players did not have their day.
"They did not start off to the best of their abilities last season either, and then Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Karim [Benzema] did not stop.
"We must go out winning from the beginning, show a good level like the other day and make sure that what is shown on the pitch is reflected on the result."
With reports suggesting that Fabio Coentrao will start instead of Angel Di Maria, Karanka confirmed that there will be changes to the starting line-up but refused to elaborate on them.
"We know our starting XI but we are not going to say it," he stated. "In Los Angeles he [Coentrao] showed the kind of player he is, playing in different positions.
"He will bring us a lot with his quality and with the fact he is an all-round player."
