The experienced full-back appears to be on his way out of the Vila-Real club this summer as his representative has revealed that he can move for no feeJoan Capdevila appears to be on his way out of Villarreal as his agent Horacio Gaggioli has revealed that the Primera Division side will allow his client to leave on a free transfer this summer.
The 33-year-old full-back, who signed a two-year contract extension with Villarreal in January, lost his spot in the starting XI to Jose Catala and is therefore keen to move on.
The World Cup winner has been linked with several clubs in the past few weeks, but Portuguese giants Benfica appear to be in pole position for the left-back.
"We have an agreement with Villarreal that they will allow him to leave for free if an interesting offer comes in. Benfica are a very interesting option for him, but nothing is official at the moment," said Gaggioli to O Jogo.
Capdevila started his professional career with Tarrega and also wore the jersey of Espanyol, Atletico Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna before joining Villarreal in 2007, and has made well over 100 official appearances at El Madrigal.
