The young French winger has confirmed that he intends to stay in the Basque region, despite reported interest from the European championsReal Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann has confirmed his representatives have spoken to Barcelona, but insists he is happy to stay at the Basque club.
The French under-21 international has impressed for Sociedad this season, scoring seven goals in 37 La Liga appearances.
Barcelona see Griezmann as a cheaper alternative to Udinese's Alexis Sanchez and have reportedly started discussions with the player's current employees over a possible transfer.
However, the 20-year-old insists that he is happy to stay at Sociedad- where first-team football is guaranteed.
"It's pleasing to see that a club like Barca are interested in me. That means I'm doing things well. I can confirm that some directors from Barca have called my agent, but I'm not leaving," Griezmann is quoted as saying in Sport.
"I have to play and I don't want to be a substitute. That's why I prefer to stay one or two more years at Real Sociedad."
Griezmann has a €30 million release clause in his current contract although it is believed Sociedad would accept a lower asking price, especially if they are offered Barcelona youth players on loan.
