Former Real Madrid midfielder Paul Breitner has voiced his opinion that new signing Nuri Sahin has a bright future ahead of him and will become a true star.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund midfielder agreed a move to the Santiago Bernabeu last month, and joins the likes of Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil in switching to the Spanish capital from the Bundesliga.
Breitner is in no doubt that Sahin has what it takes to shine at Madrid, telling the club's official website: "Nuri Sahin is going to become one of the best midfielders around in Europe in the next few seasons."
The former midfielder then went on to discuss the link between the German and Spanish leagues, and stated that the former Bundesliga players will fit in well in Madrid.
"The Bundesliga has a close link with La Liga. We have already seen the arrival of Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira at Real Madrid and now two more players are coming with Sahin and Hamit Altintop. They will fit in perfectly at the club. I am not saying this because I am a Madridista."
The 59-year-old was full of praise for Altintop, too, who arrives on a free transfer, and stated that players like the former Bayern Munich man are crucial for any team.
"Hamit Altintop is a great addition. He will help the team win trophies. The squad needs a mixture of playmakers and hard workers.
"Every club needs players like Cristiano Ronaldo and like Altintop, who work hard for the full 90 minutes and don't stop running or fighting. That allows players like Ronaldo more freedom on the pitch to do what they do best."
Sahin and Altintop have been joined by winger Jose Callejon as coach Jose Mourinho assembles his squad for next season.
