Germany midfielder hails arrival of Dortmund ace as he turns focus to the future at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid's Sami Khedira is looking ahead to next season and insists he does not fear for his place following the arrival of Nuri Sahin from German champions Borussia Dortmund.

Khedira spoke of his delight with the way things have turned out in the Spanish capital following last year's move from Stuttgart.

But there is always room for improvement as he hails Sahin's arrival.

"It is totally normal that a coach does not plan to use only one player in each position for 60 matches in a season. I have no fear of competition and I'm delighted by Nuri's arrival. As I've gotten to know him, he's a great guy and a super footballer.

"For Real Madrid, it is good if quality is added. We want to win trophies, but we need quality and no filler. But I am convinced that I will be a regular starter next term," he told DFB.de.

And with stellar names which include the recent addition of Hamit Altintop, there is plenty to look forward to.

"Real Madrid are a club that strives for the maximum success: League, league cup, Champions League... We have missed out on La Liga and the Champions League.

"These were goals not only of the club, but of myself. Therefore, one could theoretically call it a failure.

"But you have to see the big picture: Barcelona have a well-established team of six or seven years. We have a new team, a new coach, a new philosophy. We have not achieved our lofty goals, but for our first year, we played a decent round."
