thumbnail Hello,

Spain’s World Cup winner returns to the Catalan’s first team after almost three months out with a knee injury and is among the 20 players selected for the match

Barcelona have received a massive boost ahead of their clash with Real Madrid on Saturday evening as defender Carles Puyol has been passed fit to play.

The Spain international centre-back has not featured in a competitive match for Barca since January 22. He was substituted at half-time against Racing Santander in a 3-0 victory for the Spanish champions at Camp Nou, having damaged tendons in his left knee.

However, having trained with the Barca squad on Friday, Puyol has been passed fit to play against Madrid in their Primera Division encounter at the Bernabeu. He is part of the 20 players selected for tomorrow’s match in the Spanish capital.

The full team list is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Valdes, Pinto

Defenders: Fontas, Puyol, Maxwell, Adriano, Pique, Alves, Milito

Midfielders: Busquets, Keita, Xavi, Iniesta, Thiago, Dos Santos, Afellay

Forwards: Pedro, Jeffren, Messi, Villa

Barcelona are eight points clear of Madrid at the top of the table at the moment.
