Mikel Arteta could be on his way out of Premier League side Everton in the summer transfer window as La Liga outfit Valencia have expressed an interest in signing the playmaker, The Daily Mirror reports.

Los Che are in the market for a new midfielder because of the possible departure of Ever Banega, and reportedly consider the 29-year-old as the perfect replacement for the Argentine enforcer.

Arteta is a product of Barcelona's youth academy, but never broke into the first team at the Catalans, and he instead wore the jerseys of Paris Saint-Germain, Rangers and Real Sociedad before eventually joining Everton in January 2005.

The midfielder has since developed into an important first team player for the Toffees and has made well over 100 Premier League appearances for so far.

He won't be available on the cheap, though, as he signed a contract extension until 2015 at the beginning of the season.
