Terek Grozny are keen on Atletico Madrid hit-man Diego Forlan, but his representative Daniel Bolotnicoff has denied talks have commenced with the Russian side.
Grozny vice president Haidar Aljanov had earlier said negotiations for the Uruguayan were in place, but he couldn't confirm whether a concrete bid had been made.
"I can neither confirm, nor deny the news regarding a proposal from Grozny to Forlan. But, things should be decided today or tomorrow," Aljanov said.
Russian reports claimed Grozny were looking to complete a rapid move to have striker at the club for the start of the new season.
But, Bolotnicoff told Marca: "There have not been any negotiations with any Russian club."
Forlan has recently come under fire from Atleti boss Quique Sanchez Flores, who on Saturday said his striker needed to "improve."
On Monday, Forlan denied reports of a rift with the Colchoneros dressing room.
