Atletico Madrid winger Jose Antonio Reyes has claimed that he was encouraged by the performance of his team in their battling 2-2 draw with Sevilla on Saturday.
The former Arsenal and Real Madrid attacker struck a late leveller to deny the visitors an impressive win on the road.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Reyes said that the team’s efforts deserved more from the match, and that he had been pleased with their display despite being unable to collect all three points.
He stated: “We do not leave this tie with a bad feeling, and I suspect it is because we have come from behind twice. We have also enjoyed many chances on goal, and that is very important. It would have been better to win, but I am happy.
“The team gave everything. It is true that we fight for the same goal as them, and that is to enter Europe, but there is still a lot of league and there are many points ahead.”
