Villarreal coach Juan Carlos Garrido demands a response from his team after loss to Deportivo.

Villarreal coach Juan Carlos Garrido has demanded a response from his team after they meekly surrendered to Deportivo at the Riazor.

Alberto Lopo netted the only goal for the Galicians in what was a poor contest, sending the Yellow Submarines to their second consecutive 1-0 defeat in a row, and allowed Valencia to overtake them in the table as a result.

Garrido confessed that his side had not performed, but urged them to bounce back in their upcoming Europa League encounter with Napoli.

He assessed: “The result always affects the analysis, in the match we have worked hard, but this defeat hurts, and we must now react quickly both in Europe and in La Liga.

“We need to give maximum performance, when we play so many games with such intensity it is normal to have these problems with injuries, and we have accumulated many. This affects the performance of the team against a team like Deportivo, who plays at a high level because they are fighting relegation.”
