Villarreal winger Santi Cazorla has admitted he has been hugely encouraged by the ambition shown by coach Juan Carlos Garrido, and added that the players are completely behind him.
Garrido has been a revelation at El Madrigal since his promotion to head coach last February, after working successfully with the B team, and the Yellow Submarines proudly sit clear in third place in the table after a wonderful season so far.
Cazorla, who has been instrumental in the club’s success, told the media that the attitude and ideas of their coach bring great satisfaction to him and the rest of his colleagues.
He stressed: “Garrido has transmitted ambition and enthusiasm into the team. We all here to the death with the coach. We are comfortable in the style of play and a lot of that is down to the coach. That is what we like, and he has strengthened it.
Cazorla, who has made a return to the international fold following a difficult 2009-10 season due to a back problem, believes there is scope for more of his teammates to join regulars such as Joan Capdevila, Carlos Marchena and Diego Lopez in the selection.
He added: “We have great players here, and who knows how many more can enter the selection. The more players that play, the better for everyone.”
